There is currently a competition over at HJC to design the Winnipeg Jets' third jersey. So for my design, I combined the classic look of the Jets' sweaters from the 70's in the WHA with the modern sleek look of today.
This is a blog dedicated to Sports Concept Art, although you were probably able to tell that from the title. I will be posting my own concepts here as well as those people submit. Also, we will have competitions for all you designers out there. I'll try to post as many of your designs up as possible so people can critique them. If you want to send me your work, email it to jcrgraphix@ymail.com Check out my designs at jordancroberts.com

The Arizona Coyotes
This design is based on the Winnipeg Jets uniforms of the WHA. It also reintroduces green into the Coyotes' color scheme. This design represents two different important phases in the franchise's existence as well as a new direction for the future.

Canucks Re-Done
This design brings back the old black, gold, and red of the 80s and 90s without being to horribly disgusting. My favorite part of this design are the giant stars above the logo. You'll notice that there is one star for each of the Canucks' Stanley Cups. Enjoy.

NCAA Competition
This is my final entry for the NCAA Competition. I'm still waiting for some entries to start trickling in. In this one, I recolored the San Diego Chargers' alternate logo from 1997-2001. What do you think?

NCAA Competition
So here's my entry for the NCAA competition for Western Michigan. It is based on the Pittsburgh Penguins unis from the 1980s to the 90s. The third sweater is based on the Penguins sweaters from the 1967-68 season. The logo is WMU's main logo from 1964-1975.

NCAA Competition
So I'll get things started off by posting my entry for Michigan State. Also, I'm extending the deadline until the 12th.
Carolina Hurricanes Retro Whalers Look
The next design is based on the old Hartford Whalers. I've always felt a little bit of nostalgia for the Whalers, Jets, and Nordiques.

New Jersey Devils Winter Classic
This design started as a possible Winter Classic design for the New Jersey Devils. For the logo, I used a retro script and I recolored the Arizona State Sun Devils logo. The home sweater is just a recolored Devils jersey from the 1980s and early 90s.
Florida Gators Throwbacks
Here's a design I did using some of the University of Florida's past uniforms. I also added one of my own. I'm personally not a fan of the University of Florida, but they have an interesting color scheme.
Army Football
The Army is currently using cool modern camo uniforms as their alternate, so I decided to expand on this. The uniforms I designed represent the uniforms the Army wore at different periods in its history.
World War II (1941-1945)
Korean War (1950-1953)
Vietnam War (1955-1975)
Persian Gulf War (1990-1991)
Today (Dress Blues)
Navy Football
Next in this series is the U.S. Naval Academy. The first one I did, reflects the fact that the Marine Corps also trains its officers at the U.S. Naval Academy, and even though, they are a much manlier service (though not quite as good as the Army), the Navy never really shows that.
The next one is based on the Navy's black uniform, which is one of the classiest they have.
The other ones I did were just standard uniforms that I think would look good. What do you think?
Air Force Football
I have been in the Army for 6 years now, and I have always had a special place in my heart for the Military Academies' football teams, so I decided I'd design some uniforms for them. The theme of these uniforms is "Air Power" and the represent some of the famous planes in the history of the Air Force.
The Flying Tigers were an American volunteer group from WW2 that helped defend China from the Imperial Japanese forces. They're pretty interseting, you should check them out on wikipedia!
The B-29 was the biggest baddest bomber of WW2. In fact, a B29 carried the atom bombs that ended the war. This design is based on the raw metal design of the B-29 with invasion stripes.
Americans have always prided themselves on being the biggest, fastest, and strongest and perhaps one of the events that exemplified this most was when we broke the sound barrier with the X-1.
The SR-71 exemplified the stealthiness and sneakiness of the cold war. It flew higher and faster than anything else, and was not detectable by anything at the time.
Original Six Makeover
I was showing my dad some of my designs and he suggested I do something for the Red Wings and the Blackhawks. So, I decided to do all of the Original 6.
First up is Detroit. This design combines the traditional wings with the blackletter style "D" featured on Detroit's very first uniforms on a shield. This traditional-looking logo as well as the use of the off-white color gives the design a very retro look. The jersey itself is based on old Detroit sweaters as well as their current one.
Next up is Chicago. For this design, I revamped the classic Indian head logo and I put it into the old round Black Hawks logo. This design also uses a little bit of gold in the trim. The sweaters are based on the Blackhawks road sweaters from the 1940s as well as their current uniforms.
Now, on to the Canadiens. I decided with this design not to touch the Canadiens logo since it's one of the best and most historic. Instead, I gave the team a retro almost collegiate look in blue instead of their normal red.
Next up are the Maple leafs. This design represents the long history and tradition of the Toronto Maple Leafs. The logo features one of their logos from the 1940s on top of a Canadian Roundel. The color of the leaf has also been changed to green to reflect the Leafs past as the St. Pats. The sweaters are based on the Leafs uniforms from the 1970s until the 90s.
This patriotic design mixes the New York Rangers with the New York/Brooklyn Americans from the 1930s and 40s. The new logo is based on the old Americans shield logo. The home sweater is based on the 1930 Americans sweater with the 4 stars represtenting their 4 Stanley Cups. The road sweater is actually based on the 1960 U.S. Olympic team.
Finally, the Boston Bruins. This retro design brings brown back to the Bruins' color scheme. It is based on a combination of Bruins sweaters throught the team's storied history. The logo is one of their current alternate logos recolored to fit the color scheme. The whole design was inspired by me growing up near Western Michigan University and being a big fan of the brown and gold.
A Couple of Older Designs
For my first post, I'll add some designs I did a few weeks ago.
With new ownership in Dallas, there is a lot of talk about re-branding. This design is based on the old Minnesota North Stars and uses the colors of other Dallas teams. I mocked up the design on my template I made.

Here's a mash-up I did for s***s and giggles. The Anaheim Ducks meet the University of Oregon. The NHL seriously needs to get their stuff together and get back on TV.
